This is definitely becoming my new hair salon, an airy place that makes you feel welcome with its high ceiling and clear glass wall overlooking Upper Street.
My professional of choice is Lisa, who knows what she's doing when it comes to cut and colour, has experience and taste (of course she does, she's Italian. Ha ha). Also, Zoo N1 is just a walk from home and practically opposite Euphorium Bakery, so next time I'll wrap up my "me me me" Saturday afternoon with a slice of cake. -

Luminoso, arieggiato, fresco. Questo pub serve solamente prodotti biologici, dalla birra artigianale alle bibite analcoliche originali, ad esempio soda con sciroppo di sambuco. I piatti sul menù ammiccano alla tradizione inglese (bio non vuol dire dietetico!) ma tra gli snack ci sono anche hummus e pasta di melanzane fatta in casa, serviti con del buon pane tostato.
I prezzi sono quelli che ci si aspetta quando si leggono parole come "biologico" o "equosolidale", cioè alti.Pubblicato su: cisonostata.wordpress.com

Comfy pub with a rock n' roll vibe, or should I say ska? Partially because of its Specials memorabilia, and also because its hosts gigs and open-mic evenings downstairs, it looks and feels like a musician's bar.

I am completely in awe after my first gig at the Union Chapel.
I paid my visit to it on last Friday and trust me, a lovely band* playing an acoustic set with the last rays of daylight coming through the stained glass definitely make up for a busy week.
One of the best good-mood music venues ever.*Bombay Bicycle Club

Non posso fare a meno di chiedermelo. Che genere di persona può voler vandalizzare un'opera di Banksy?
Il writer senza volto che ha elevato la street art al livello di arte e fenomeno mondiale, uno che ha disegnato sul muro di Gaza e NON SI è FATTO BECCARE, ha avuto uno dei suoi stencil rovinato da alcuni cretini di Islington.
Mah.
Per fortuna qualcuno, penso un'associazione di quartiere, ha pulito e protetto il disegno coprendolo con del plexiglas.
Se passate di lì, fermatevi a vedere dal vivo quest'espressione di creatività del nostro tempo.
Rob_Fleming recentemente, ne è stato coperto uno anche a napoli. non posso che quotarti cara susi. alla prossima gita a londra il banksy tour è d'obbligo.

La mia prima colazione all'aria aperta - al SOLE - del 2010 è avvenuta domenica, ai tavolini di Euphorium Bakery.
Come ha fatto notare la mia amica americana, Londra lascia a desiderare nel campo brunch. Qui infatti è possibile scegliere tra quiche, panini oppure brioches varie e torte (pazzesche) accompagnate da bevande calde o succhi di frutta, ma non c'è l'opzione di un breakfast completo.
Peccato perché i prodotti di produzione artigianale, d'ispirazione francese, sono così buoni che viene voglia di assaggiarne più di uno: baguette del loro forno ripiene al salmone, torta di mele, cheesecake, pain au chocolat... gnam.
Il conto non è proprio economico ma normale per un posto del genere, a conti fatti ho pagato circa £6 per una quiche vegetariana piccola e un tè Earl Grey.Pubblicato su: cisonostata.wordpress.com

I was hypnotized by the strawberries and cream cake, topped with what looked like a berries waterfall. I knew something so pretty had to taste good but it was even better so I had, erm, three pieces of it.
The mini quiches were great too, I’ll definitely go back for more. -

Well, let me put last night’s pieces together.
Lucky Voice has a beautiful classy yet unpretentious decor. Drinks are delicious (oh God, the pink vodka stuff shots).
Now, the singing.
I only sang half a song in the actual karaoke rooms but for most of the evening I shouted like crazy to the 80’s tunes playing for the quiz. And it wasn’t just me. At some point the whole bar, including staff, was singing along like there’s no tomorrow - to Bon Jovi’s Livin’ on a Prayer.
That alone deserves five stars. -

You can tell this place is owned by an Italian chef by the family friendly atmosphere, the nice smell, the familiar (to me) looking salad and sandwiches and especially by the cappuccino, though it’s much bigger than the ones you get in Italy.
Next time I want to try some pizzette (tiny pizzas you can eat cold as an appetizer). The Food Lab has got both take away and a few tables for eating in. -

The Old Queen’s Head is a cool place to go out if you live in Islington and can’t be bothered to go all the way to Shoreditch. I went there on Friday to see Lovefoxx from CSS djing (they have people from bands djing every weekend). The music was good, the drinks were good and I had a fantastic time.
So why am I giving it 2 stars? Because they make people queue to go upstairs, where the djs are, AFTER they have paid to get in. And if you go out for a smoke you have to queue again. Not right!
